Religious Tour

The Albanians first appear in the historical record in Byzantine sources of the late 11th century. At this point, they are full Christianized. From the 15th century until the year 1912, Albania is in the hands of the Ottoman Turks where the Islam overshadowed Christianity. In 1969, religions were officially banned in Albania, making the country the first and only constitutionally atheist state ever. Knowing this, would you believe that one of the most devoted Christian “Mother Teresa” was originally Albanian?
After the fall of Communism in 1991, there are three major religions in Albania, namely Islam, Catholic and Orthodox. Nowadays, religion doesn’t play a large role in Albania, making it the thirteenth least religious country in the world.

Knowing this, Albania is an interesting destination to visit if you are interested in the history of religion in Albania, churches and mosques.

This tour lasts 6/7/8 days (tailor-made up to your wishes) and the visits may include:
Tirana (Bektashi) – Ardenica – Apollonia – Berat (mount Tomorri) – Korca – Voskopoja – Ohrid – Tushemisht – Tirana – Kruja (monastery up the mountain) – Saint Anthony Church

Real Life Albania

This is one of the many fascinating experiences for visitors to Albania, allowing you to get close with the host family and the community that lives in the area. Tucked away between the mountains in the North or on the countryside in the South, home stays in Albania offer you one of the most favoured means by visitors to enjoy and experience the culture, lifestyle and flavours of the land and its people. A home stay is beneficial for both guests and hosts since a host generates some extra income and can experience foreign culture and learn the basic expressions in foreign languages without going abroad. Many of our hosts are very interested in foreign languages and foreign countries and can manage simple, practical conversations. On the other hand, they may be able to give you a guided tour around and if you are eager to learn, they might teach you how to work the fields.

City Break Tirana

Tirana, also known as the “colourful capital of Albania” is a relatively new city, although antique monuments and artefacts are discovered all around Tirana. Tirana is the most important political and economic centre of the country. The “Blloku” area (called like this because the villas of the communist elite were here) is the place to be with its trendy bars, great restaurants, cosy pubs, cafes and nightclubs. The former major (also an artist) of Tirana had the great idea to give the old communist style buildings a facelift by painting them in bright colours with abstract patterns.

The offer for City Break Tirana can be combined (up to your wishes) with visiting other cities around Tirana, such as, Kruja, Durres and Berat.
